Harrahs Lake Tahoe - The Real Deal :

One of the larger casinos in south Lake Tahoe. Harrah's offers 900 slot machines including Megabucks progressives and a ton of table games. Their video poker machines are quite playable - we've hit tons of quads, but no royals during marathon sessions at one of the bars.

Location of Harrahs Lake Tahoe:

Harrah's Lake Tahoe is located on the south side of Highway 50 right on the Stateline between Nevada and California. There is a tunnel that goes under the highway to Harveys. Montbleu, Bills, and Horizon (soon to be the Tahoe Tropicana) are within easy walking distance.

Harrahs Lake Tahoe History

Harrah's history in Lake Tahoe dates back to the mid 1950s. Bill Harrah purchased George's Gateway Club in early 1955 for a half a million bucks. He reopened the joint as Harrah's Lake Club 5 months later. In 1958, Harrah bought the Stateline Country Club and the Nevada Club on the other side of the street. It is in this location that Harrah's Stateline Club was opened. Mr. Harrah built 18 story hotel on the site in 1971 at a cost of $25 million dollars. Harrah's Lake Tahoe opened on November 9, 1973. The hotel has been expanded and upgraded numerous times since then, most recently a $26 million dollar renovation in 2000.

The Rooms at Harrahs Lake Tahoe

Harrah's Lake Tahoe ain't screwing around. Each room comes with 2 bathrooms, bay windows with some awesome views of the Sierras and, last but certainly not least, 'double sound-proofed walls' for those crazy kids above you. Each room also comes with a Nintendo game system and internet access. The entire hotel was refurbished in 2000 - to the tune of $26 million dollars. This is (was) Bill Harrah's favorite property so the company has a vested interest to keep it top notch.
