MontBleu - The Real Deal :
Montbleu is a totally redesigned, redecorated and refurbished cyber snow bunny hip kick-ass freak out on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Gone is the frumpy dumpy and kitch of Caesars Tahoe - replaced by fresh look, spiffy design, clean and new machines, tables and chips. Thank goodness!
MontBleu History
Caesars Tahoe was opened in 1980 and was recently purchased from Caesars Entertainment in 2005 by the Columbia Sussex Corporation. The property has been completely renovated and it looks and feels good. Columbia Sussex owns Horizon (formerly the Sahara Tahoe) right over highway 50 as well as Tropicana Las Vegas and Tropicana Atlantic City.
The new Montbleu is a fabulous place in Lake Tahoe and has really raised the bar in town. We can't wait to see what they've got planned for Horizon (soon to be Tropicana Tahoe) and The Tropicana in Las Vegas.
Location of MontBleu:
South Lake Tahoe, right on the Stateline of California. Within drunk staggering distance are the Three H club - Harvey's, Harrah's and Horizon. Harv's, Harrah's and Bills are all owned by Harrah's Entertainment - your club card should work at all properties. The party might not be at Harvey's any more.
Cool Stuff About MontBleu:
Montbleu used to be Caesars Tahoe.
Montbleu pledged to eliminate discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. That's pretty kick ass.
Montbleu's Bleu Ribbon Pets package is a sham, read our Montbleu Review to learn more.
The Rooms at MontBleu
Really nice rooms, which all have (except lowest floors) a view of the Sierra Nevada mountains and/or beautiful Lake Tahoe. Prices range from $90 during the spring, fall and summer to close to $200 during winter months. If you wish to head out during winter, it's best to book as early as possible. Once the snow hits, prepare for room rate sticker shock.
Restaurants at MontBleu
Montbleu has brought cuisine to Lake Tahoe. While the Caesars Steakhouse was great stuff... it was a little stodgy in its day. Montbleu Lake Tahoe has whooped up a ton of great new bars and dining options that have raised the bar for food in Tahoe.
Ciera
Steaks and chops... seafood as well as vegetarian options. Excellent.
20-Four
All day and night coffee shop food with a twist.
del Soul
Mexican soul food.
the buffet
Fresh and delicious buffet at a great price. $15 S-Th, $20 on weekends.
The Zone
Quick eats deli in Montbleu's monstrous sportsbook. Open till 1am on weekends.
Starbucks in the house!
MontBleu Tips
Montbleu has continued Caesars Tahoe's ability to booking top tier entertainment - even if the name isn't HOT right now, they're still kick ass. At a recent view of the Montbleu entertainment schedule had bomb reggae shows, Howie Mandel and the Killers.
Montbleu has two new nightclubs to keep you bumpin the bottle service till the dawn. blu features hot dj's, bottle service and dollar drinks on Mondays. blu opens at 10pm every night. Opal ultralounge also has great drink specials, bottle service and a Hookah room. How about that eh? Opal is open Wed-Sun at 8pm.

Montbleu is certainly better now than when it was languishing as Caesars, but don't be fooled by their fancy website. The rooms and the hotel tower still - years later - have Caesars decor... the only thing they've upgraded is the mattresses. Same salmon pink marble bathrooms, rusty faucets and the toilet that is 10 inches from the ground. It's not a dump, it's just not as fancy as their marketing team makes it out to be.
